When you display formatting symbols, Word will also display manual page breaks and section breaks in your document. The only downside is that hidden text is not protected in any way unless you apply a password. What are the different types of formatting marks that can be revealed in a word document? With the help of show or hide tool in Word 2013, you will be able to reveal some of the marks like spaces, hidden text, paragraph symbols, optional hyphens, page breaks, tab characters, etc. To show or hide paragraph marks and other nonprinting symbols in Word using a keyboard shortcut, press Ctrl + Shift + 8 (the asterisk key at the top of the keyboard).
